High-precision glass tubes with inner structure

Rhombus structure in 250-fold magnification

Tool in structuring magnification of 100 times

Our company has, in common with the IAB - Institute for Applied Construction located in Weimar, completed a research project for the production of high-precision glass tubes. The aim was to develop the production of special glass tubes with very high demands on the accuracy of the internal structure for different surface shapes.

The processing capabilities are present here in the micrometer range and this make high demands on the technology and experts in manufacturing of Glastechnik Kirste KG.

High-precision glass tubes find application in the field of fluid mechanics and there are generally used to improve the flow properties of different media. By the manufacturing method developed here surfaces can be generated which can exhibit behavior similar to the well-known lotus effect.
